procrastination will prevent you from reaching your potential
BAD habits prevent you from reaching your potential. They are self-inflicted punishments that drain you of motivation, time, and money. And they hold you back from living the great life you know you can achieve.
Just think of all the times you've said something like...
"The diet starts Monday -- and I'll stick to it this time, I SWEAR!"
"Smoking is a nasty habit and is ruining my health. This will absolutely be my last cigarette pack."
"That does it! I'm cutting up the credit cards once and for all and not wasting any more money on things I really don't need."
Sound familiar? You're not alone.
The reality is most people try to break habits backwards; they try to physically change their behaviors before they've changed their mental ones.
The result? You get so stressed out when denied the habit that has given you comfort in the past, you cannot help but cling to it and repeat it in the present.
Losing bad habits requires you to change the way you think before you can change the way you act.
The good news is you can EASILY
DEFEAT your Procrastination habit!

Ending procrastination!
Just last week, I got a surprise call from one of my colleagues - an old friend. We arranged to meet in my house. He was into some big problem. We used to be very close. We shared ideas, developed concepts and he was proposing the commencement of a really big project. Now, five years down the line, we met and he was giving me some sort of cooked up misfortune. I was very mad at him when I got to understand that he had procrastination at the core of his problem.
Procrastination has killed him for five good years. Five years of unproductivity, five years of shattered dreams, five years of hopelessness! He had the goal, the vision, the dream, he had segmented his line of action into days, months and years and we had joked about it – that in about five years time – he would have been a mogul in his chosen niche.
There’s nothing I can do help him now, I just have to be frank. I gave him some tips on
Ending his procrastination. These tips are what I will lay out bare before you in a short while – I am going to go A – Z because you have no cause to remain your state – your state of inertia – you've got to stand up and stop fantasizing about some things that will never happen!
Deciding to end procrastination can be the very starting point to your successful achievement.
Procrastination can be beneficial in some cases – I must note. Procrastination sometimes can prevent you from making some serious mistakes, sometimes you may not have enough information that you need to start up a project, or it may not just be the best time for you to get into that business. If procrastination becomes advantageous in this way, then it accomplishes a good goal otherwise and in 95% cases – they are detrimental – they are real destiny killers.
Ending procrastination is not as easy as it sounds; it requires conscious, constant and deliberate efforts to get rid of it. These tips will be beneficial in your quest to end procrastination.
Before bed in the night or very early in the morning, do everything you can to get a to-do-list
Prioritize your activities in order of relevance
Do unpleasant tasks first and forget about them
Get a realistic deadline for each job and outline the rewards/consequences of doing and not doing it respectively
Just get started on any you feel like doing immediately. Once you propel yourself, you'll gather enough momentum to keep it up
Change your mindset as regards a task. Consider putting on a positive attitude always. Remember that most times you do not really have a choice. Just do it. Say to yourself – what I have to do, I have to do. Whatever it is. If you delay, it does not necessarily mean you would not do it, so why not do it with your mind crossed and get it over with.
If you are a perfectionist like I used to be, you’d have to understand that first, human nature is imperfect. I actually put off starting a web business two years ago because I wanted to get it right the first time. Now all around the web, I see my ideas littering without a dent of perfection. Folks, they are recking in millions yearly! And I am sited here, watching and waiting till I get it right the first time – who's loosing? I am the fool who's regretting all the way. Now I said to myself, the information you have is enough to get you started on something, just go ahead – you'll discover more as you progress. That's how I got started. It was out of necessity anyway. I was hungry and needed to feed my stomach and there was no supports – so – just get started! Right Now! Please start this minute. I am on my knees for you. I cannot wait for you to launch that million dollar idea for the benefit of mankind, to reconcile with that old friend, to save yourself ten more years if you quit smoking now, to look sexier if you fight obesity now, to check on your tooth with your doctor or whatever.
Lastly, try to reward yourself for the successful completion of a project. Rewards can take an shape – taking a lunch in a choosy restaurant, getting a new cell phone, whatever you deem fit.

Effects of Procrastination
It would not be an overstatement to assert that procrastination is one of man’s attitudinal problem. It is in fact a complicated issue that has eaten deep into the opportunities and corresponding successes of man. In this report, the grave effects of procrastination has been outlined, so you can understand the influence it exerts on your chances of daily successful achievement.
Procrastination itself is to delay or put off something you ought to do for whatever reason. There are numerous reasons why people don’t seem to understand why they should act and do thing on time. The other causes have been treated in my other articles– www.procrastinationstop.blogspot.com
Imagine a world without light – how it would be like if Thomas Edison had procrastinated on discovering a light bulb; if Henry Ford or Eiji Toyota had procrastinated on developing a motor vehicle; how communication would have fared if Graham Bell had procrastinated on giving the world the telephone set. The list can never be exhausted. Imagine a world void of these few things I have just mentioned. In fact, this medium of data transference (the Internet) would have been completely impossible! So you wouldn’t have actually been able to read this piece of information if someone somewhere had procrastinated in something. Now it is human nature to think that other alternatives would surface. Think of the numerous persons that conceived the idea of discovering and producing such things (I do understand that an idea is not peculiar to one man on the planet at the same time. There are pockets of sparsely distributed ideas to different persons in different location at the same time) and were not able to. Procrastination is the driving force, the destructive catalyst that empowers such unproductive returns.
The cost and effect of procrastination can be extremely grave in all spheres of life – the personal, spiritual, psychological, professional etcNow pause for a minute to think of the lost relationship as a result of he few contacts you refused to act upon immediately. The latter you push off keeping contacts both in business and personally, the easier it is to loose important customers and people. Think of the disputes you never got settled because of the constant delay – “I will call him and get over with it tomorrow”. And a new today keeps bringing in a new tomorrow till it becomes too late. The effect of procrastination can cost you too much in business – the lost opportunities to cash in on , think of the cost of not being proactive, of not being the market leader – nobody ever wants to be associated with the second best – even you!

Lost opportunities definitely will cost you money. Now, you wouldn’t tell me you do not know how it feels not to have money on you or at least in the bank. You are as good as dead friend. You’ll definitely be angry all the time. It gets a lot easier to be infuriated once you don’t have money. This all compound to instigate dispute in the family. Your spouse or children suddenly become the cause of your trouble. Your mental health starts to deteriorate as stress sets in, so is low self esteem and confidence guilts and feelings of inadequacy.
